Engagement session are always such a blast – it’s relaxing and unhurried day of exploring. Though we’ve all been in Central Park oodles of times, it’s always a new adventure, each and every time! We meandered past the Ramble and up into Shakespeare Garden. It’s so lovely and secluded there – you definitely get a sense of why it’s called Shakespeare’s Garden. Which is just touch the tip of why I adored this Shakespeare Garden Central Park Wedding Engagement with Amy and Jeff.

And of course this was my first time actually meeting Amy and Jeff. We’ve had so much fun planning some of the details of their upcoming wedding already – we now have standing in the middle of 6th Ave and Central Park West as well as getting mildly lost in the Ramble to our bucket lists. They are such an adorable couple – they truly made an afternoon of photography so very easy. You know it’s a good shoot when you’re parting ways as the sun is going down and bellies are rumbling!

As a Montclair NJ Photographer at Kips Castle with Jim, Stacy and Crew, the day was simply lovely.! It was the perfect fall day and hanging out with these twins was a riot. So full of life and energy! And coming from a mom of 2 boys – it’s such a refreshing change in pace to spend time with siblings who hug and play gently, as opposed to rough and tumble. Not that I would trade my whirlwinds for anything, but this day was like a little mini-vacation.

With the only goal for our session to have some fun, casual and candid moments with a few portraits sprinkled in, we popped over to Kips Castle to explore. As none of us had ever been, it was a fun day of exploring and playing.

Family sessions in the city just rock my world. As a Bryant Park NYC Photographer, there is just so much to explore and so many different ‘moods’ and textures to incorporate. And I can’t help but just love when we find that small space of ‘solitude’ amongst all the hustle.

I’ve been so lucky to have photographed this family before – which is a favorite of mine. I love when I get capture a few moments of folks lives through the years! Especially when it’s a day such as this – so much laughter, two little boys who just make my heart melt with their adorableness. And of course, parents who just make you feel at home. Even when you’re hanging out in Bryant Park.

And Bryant Park is not the worse place a girl could spend an afternoon!

I am absolutely in love with this wedding. Just everything. Brent and Rachael reached out to me when their wedding was just a month away. It happened to be on a Friday, and I happened to be available. They’d been planning their wedding all year for next October, when they realized that the plans just weren’t flowing, they weren’t excited about putting it together, and it just didn’t feel quite right. The idea to elope in NJ started to form.

So they put a stop to it and planned a wedding that was more meaningful to them, instead. Which I think is just beyond cool – it can be so hard to change direction once the motion has been set. They decided to elope in Cheesequake State Park as this particular location has great personal meaning to them, as does the the autumn, as do all the details ranging from the after-hours brunch venue, to the flowers and the gifts for their guests. Bringing along their hand-painted ‘just married‘ sign, and a few special touches for the venue, they created the wedding of their dreams – and man was it beautiful!

There were several amazing vendors that put their hearts into making this day special and beautiful. Hair and Makeup were done by Salon Blush, the dress was a Monique Lhuillier and shoes by Badgley Mischka (shoes and jewelry bought through Nordstrom), Brent’s suit was from JCrew and flowers from one of Montclair’s own – Clores Flowers, Brunch was at Toast and Pastor Ernie Williams officiated the ceremony.

This wedding is just all assortment of wonderful for me. First, this is my cousin – Mallory. I remember the day this beautiful girl when she was born (really, I know, she’s a woman, now, but when you remember holding someone as a baby, they’ll always carry monikers like ‘girl’, ‘boy’, ‘little’ and so on – so you’ll just have to humor me!). And how every time my dad went to visit without us, his report would say ‘Wow!! Mallory’s grown another foot! And we’d all laugh and try and count just how many ‘feet’ she’d have at that point (you don’t need to count –  she only has 2)… And of course, as a Grand Haven Michigan Wedding Photographer, their wedding was so beautiful to photograph! So to sit birds-eye for their big day, to witness her marry Connor, who is so very sweet and loving, and a really kick-ass father. (really, try not to fall in love with Breckon, their adorable little guy) – words just fail me.

Sigh.

But yes – I feel endlessly humbled that Mal and Connor would choose to have me travel all the way to from NYC to capture their day. Being there both personally and professionally was just awesome.

It’s a beefy post – but I felt all these images are so worth it. I just couldn’t cut one more from the lot, and, unfortunately, I still didn’t include some of my favorites. And I apologize, mom, as I know you’ll hate that I included a few of you – but really, some of those are my absolute favorite images of you and dad. Ever. And I’m so happy I was able to capture these moments – cause, really, it’s all so fleeting. As memories fade, these moments of laughter and love are what we have to look back and say – ‘yes!! we really were friggin happy’! And any picture that makes me smile is definitely a keeper.
