Decidedly I’m falling more and more in love with being a Brooklyn Elopement Photographer! (think I may have mentioned that before…..). Jason and Virginia decided to elope in Brooklyn at the City Hall on what may have been the areas first glimpse of spring. The day was sunny and warm – when not in the shade – that is.

We had such a relaxed and lovely time strolling around the Heights area after the wedding. And I will never, ever forget the story of how they got engaged.. As Jason is a pilot, he took Virginia up in a flight for a sunset cruise. As they were flying up the Hudson and lost in the magical views, Jason asked Virginia to marry him. (!) Best engagement story. Ever. It was so very easy photographing these two – so very in love and such a perfect day.

This Maritime Parc Wedding in Jersey City was easily the most fun wedding I’ve ever attended. As guest or photographer. From the playful tenor of the guys getting ready, to the traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony and pre-wedding ‘festivities’ all the way through the ceremony and reception, I was laughing. Lynn and Cho have a sense of humor that is absolutely perfectly matched for one another.

As for those pre-wedding festivities, truly, I had no idea what to expect! As shooting for Clean Plates Pictures and alongside Tanya Salazar (who was simply wonderful to work with). You see, I assumed ‘pre-wedding festivities’ and ‘Chinese Tea Ceremony’ would be quiet. Serene. Contemplative. What I did not expect was a set of bridesmaids refusing the grooms entrance into the house to collect his bride until he jumped through some hoops to ‘prove his love’. Hoops such as he and his groomsmen singing ‘A Whole New World’ from the movie, Aladdin – Cho being Jasmine, of course. Or the men putting on bra’s and panties (over their suits) while eating jalapeño’s that they chased with shots of maple syrup! Finally they resorted to bribing the ladies with cash.

Seriously funny.

It’s a long post, I can’t lie – but so worth the journey.

I love love love when families invite me back to photograph their moments through the years. Seeing the kiddos grow, getting to know the parents more – hearing about all their adventures! Simple awesomeness.

And this crew is absolutely no exception. They’re sorta like the female version of my brood. Between the quiet sensitive child and the more wild efferveescent one – and of course the crazy fun love within the family, it feels a whole lot like trying to capture my own crew. Tons of fun – lots of of catching up and a whole lotta of chasing around the kiddos.

It was a workout narrowing down photos for this one – I do hope you enjoy! It was a great way to kick off the new year!

Wow that was a big gap since my last post! See what the Holidays does this this gal?!? I get all up in the festive mode and totally shirk my blogging duties.

And every year I aim to do an annual ‘favorites’ blog.. (so yay me! to do list #1 complete this year 😉 ) And dear Lord, this really is a daunting task! 2015 I’m going in with a blueprint and game plan.

2014 was a pretty remarkable year for me – with 20+ weddings and engagements between primary and second shooting (coming from a goal of 25, I’m pretty stoked!), I saw so many gorgeous weddings and met tons of amazing folks along the way. I got to document a whole lotta love, laughter and (happy) tears – which is very much why I do what I do.  Capturing memories, that is..

As hard as it is to pick just a couple favorite images from an entire wedding – and several weddings not shared here as they’ve not yet been blogged! – this is a highlight of a few of my favorite moments..

A couple things to note – as for second shooting (as featured in this post) – a big fat thanks to Jen Cyr and Josh Strauss for inviting me in to help capture some of these gorgeous weddings! In the first image, the dress was designed by the bride! You can see her gorgeous designs at Love Ezra. With a cold, dreary and rainy December day in Brooklyn, walking into the inviting space of Sky Gallery in Gowanus Brooklyn was a gateway to an absolutely unforgettable evening. This night made me want to hurry up and turn 40. And have a really awesome party to rein it in.

There was so much to this evening, as George and I go back a way – George is also an amazing photographer and we both wound up at the same workshop together many moons ago. (when photographers whose eye and vision I admire ask me to photography anything, it always always always catches my breath!). Add in his incredible style, gorgeous wife, a slue of friends who love to laugh and dance, a hip, slightly out of the way but easy to access location in Gowanus, Brooklyn, and you have one amazing evening on your hands.

George also brought in some incredible vendors to help make the evening perfect – DJ Incrediboi kept the tunes going and made it impossible to stay off the dance floor, the food by Poppy’s Catering  was exquisite and I can’t rave enough about the Sky Gallery. The space which functions both as an art gallery and event venue is just open enough to allow for your creativity, but also with enough detail that you don’t need to do a thing. (there’s also has a gorgeous out door garden). I’m truly hoping to be there again in the future – and this place would be perfect for an elopement or small wedding.
