I.Love.This. Greenpoint Brooklyn Wedding. Absolutely every little detail. From the organic and easy way of my early meetings with Danielle and Mark to the gorgeous and entirely authentic day they put together, to each and every one of their family and friends. Simply wonderful. Greenpoint Brooklyn, is their home, has been their home and will likely remain their home. Which if you know Brooklyn, is a bit rare. When talking about ‘where’ to shoot, our list included a stroll through their history together in this little town. And we made sure we made it to each of those locations, and found some awesome graffiti along the way 😉

Every little detail was customized, from Danielle’s dress, to the decorations, the rings and wedding cake. If it was there – it had a purpose.

We didn’t plan for a ‘first look’. But it happened – an unplanned moment, which I’m thrilled I was there to capture. Mark literally gasped. (sorry, Mark!, but you did 🙂 )

And then there is Enid’s. Every town should have an Enid’s.

I would shoot this wedding every day of the week if I could. Hope you enjoy their story!

xx –

Sarah

There is so much I just love about this day, this church, and this couple. First, I gotta say that I have some pretty awesome friends. Jack, an Interspiritual Minister and musician, and Tracey, extraordinarily talented and creative and both with hearts as big as an ocean, are two of the people who come to mind when I think of all I love about Montclair. And as a Montclair NJ wedding photographer, weddings at the FCC are always magical to me.

When they invited me in to capture a few moments of their day – I couldn’t have felt more humbled. They brought so much of themselves to their union – from their joint entrance to the ceremony, bringing all their immediate family and loved ones into the ceremony, their passion for the First Congregational Church and all the inclusive love that it represents, to the absolutely vibrant color scheme of the reception and all the dancing. Oh the dancing!

This was such a beautiful day, and one that is near and dear to my heart..

Jack is the owner of Ring, Candle and Knot and Tracey is the owner of Tracey Stephens Interior Designs 🙂

I hope you love these images as much as I do!

Spending a day with someone so.very.tiny is such a joy for me. It seems so very long ago that my little ones were in this stage. And it never ceases to amaze me, that for someone in this new stage, new to life, new to being, can seem to fill a whole house simply by being.

And I’m endlessly amazed when parents seem to take this new addition with such stride. Our little session here was so organic, flowed so peacefully and quietly until we all felt we’d captured all that we had set out to capture.

I absolutely adore each of these images and I hope you do to!

I don’t photograph baptism’s often, but oh do I love them! Never do I manage to get through one dry-eyed, though. And this was very true for Wyatt’s big day, as well. This sleepy little cherub was at such peace, even when the water touched his forehead. Absolutely perfect day – followed by Wyatt’s mom and dad officially tying the knot! – that blog will follow 🙂

Some really cool stuff happened over here in 2014. And yes – I’m a bit slow on sharing 😉 In 2014, I convinced my pop, my dad, my now cohort and business partner, to go into business in his retirement. You see, my dad is an insanely talented craftsman – having designed and built boats, bunkbeds, cribs, houses, oodles and oodles of furniture and other cherished treasures such as chess boards and cutting boards.

So it wasn’t a stretch when I mentioned I was in need of customized presentation boxes for my albums. We played and sampled, and have now completely fine-tuned the boxes. With every album (and yes, even my 5×5 soft cover album!), comes a custom Maple Wood presentation box. Then there’s the upgrades, and this is where things get really exciting. I’ve learned so many woods I’d never even heard of! Woods such as Bacote, Padauk and Spalted Maple are a few – and have become favorites.

Starting on this endeavor, I had a few requirements – no wood was to be rare or endangered with a preference towards reclaimed, recycled or sustainable. While Bamboo seems impossible to find in the MI area, we did find Spalted Maple – a Maple tree that has died, and just starting to decay – giving the gorgeous black grain seen in the last box. Once the wood is cut and treated, all decaying is stopped and preserved, the wood is still workable and in perfect condition. And of course there is the soft satin finish.

I just love love love these boxes. And though he’s not ‘in business’ for the public, he is certainly open to additional sales. If you’re interested in a box, simply shoot me an email and I will coordinate the dialog.

And in case you’ve missed it – I’m currently running a Celebration Sale – all products – including albums – are currently discounted by 25% 🙂
