Series IV of the FIND Montauk Workshop (read: Film Is Not Dead)

I’m posting this last blog with a little sadness – as this is the end of the FIND Montauk workshop posts. The workshop is resonating in me in ways in which I’d hoped for, but am nonetheless humbled and honored to actually live and absorb the experience. As it rained on our day of photographing families, it was elected to bring the session inside. I was so in love with this, as this is, apparently, not how Jon Canlas works. Overcoming immediate obstacles, pressing our film to low-light situations, containing (3!) families into a smallish space (for 3 families and a group of photogs, that is!) was a great exercise. Having the opportunity to watch Jon expertly overcome these obstacles was invaluable.

Peter and his crew handled the change in direction with ease and grace, and were such beautiful models! Absolute perfection. The kiddo’s were just as quick to snuggle and cuddle as they were to jump on the bed. I adored every moment we had with this beautiful family – and I hope you enjoy the images, too!

All images are shot on film, Hasselblad 501cm or Canon AE-1, processed and scanned by the lovely folks over at the FINDLab.

We took a little day trip to Westhampton, NY the other day. Sometimes, we all just need a little recharging. Being together, good food and nature. I often feel our lives are punctuated by our trips – we talk about our adventures regularly, like the distant relative who we can’t wait to see again. Debates on whether to travel to the places we’ve fallen so in love with, or to go some place new. Sometimes these are huge, piggy-bank breaking trips that we save for – sometimes their day trips to somewhere local we’ve not yet been. But we love them all the same.

On this trip, Logan learned the ocean is a mighty chilly place in May. My dare-devil 2-year old will likely not go barreling into the ocean full throttle again for quite some time. But Aiden turned the moment around, creating a fun game of the waves – a game he can’t wait to play again.

Series III of the FIND Montauk Workshop (read: Film Is Not Dead)

There is simply nothing I do not just love about this series. Katiusca and Jesus were just so adorable. And so in love. Which of course made taking beautiful photo’s very easy. With the overcast and moody day – the pop of turquios just makes my heart happy. And I was able to capture a few of Jon Canlas and Katie Jane Goulah working away, as well.. Just loved this workshop so very much. Hope you enjoy the images as much as I do!

Series II of the FIND Montauk Workshop (read: Film Is Not Dead)

Christine and David were just awesome models. Apart from being stylish, sassy and absolutely funny – they were so easy to work with. Workshops are great in that they are a no-pressure event. Each photographer got to have 1 on 1 time working with each couple where we get to be as creative as our hearts desire. I’m so grateful they all spent the day modeling for us and just love the resulting images. The last in this series of photo’s is the mighty Jon Canlas doing what he does best. I hope you enjoy the images, too!

I sat on this blog for a minute. In December, I knew I was going to move my website – and I just had to include this series of photo’s on my new blog site. Little did I know the adventure building a new site would be!

So, alas, I am able to post this beautifully intimate winter wedding. This wedding is so near and dear to my own heart. Cindy, Holli and I all attend the same church – which is where they were set to wed. With the marriage equality act passing, marrying in their church, surrounded by their loved ones, was a truly monumental moment. And man – it was simply joyful. It’s so easy to get distracted in the beauty of wedding details such as flowers and cakes (cause really, who doesn’t like cake and flowers??).  But what I love here is that the most stunning detail in their wedding is all the laughter. In the ceremony. In the formals. In the quiet moments. Just pure joy. In fact – these two could not make a straight face if I asked. Such a beautiful couple who I am elated to now call my friends.

It was such a joy and  honor being a part of this lovely wedding. I hope you enjoy the moment, too!
