When I received the email requesting images for a ‘citizenship ceremony’, I couldn’t help but think: ‘that’s something new!’. As I’ll admit, I’d never been asked to shoot such a thing. Once Christina and I started talking it turned out the Consulate isn’t quite – photog-friendly. We then opted to meet infront of the British Embassy. From there, we had a fantastic time touring NYC. Our final lunch destination was Tea and Sympathy in the Village. With Christina’s 3 daughters in tow, all of whom on the cusp of great adventures, this was truly a special time in their lives. Together, we walked, talked and photographed – it was a beautiful day 🙂

Touring around the streets of NYC, we explored Jackson Square and lively Greenwich Village. This was a different pace than photographing a wedding or chasing toddlers, and I absolutely loved this session just as much!

Making the choice to end a 12-year career in which I felt every.single.day that I was playing ‘dress-up’, leading a very in-authentic life, had is consequences (read: loss of $$, benefits, vacation time and ‘stability’ – all things that my 23 year old self thought were more important than leading an authentic life). Settling into Montclair family photography and the NYC area in general is not a task for the weary.

Craziest thing? All that crap totally worked itself out. And every day we’ve had food on the table, we haven’t lost our house (bills have been paid!!), we navigated the Health Care system and are insured. And stability? I learned stability to me means I get to experience moments like these.

Every.Single.Day.

And every day – I wake up with joy and excitement over what we’ll discover.

Today, maybe today, my little guy will agree to put those crocs on the correct feet.

Maybe.

These make my heart sing and are exactly why I do what I do – it’s as though if I breath, the moment will flutter by and they’ll be asking for keys to the car. Truly, I hope you enjoy these images as much as my heart does 🙂

Karina and Brandon said ‘I do’ in my 2nd most favorite place in the world, First Congregational Church Montclair NJ – 1st being wherever my family is, of course ;-).. Sorry, God – just gotta be real, here 😉

As Karina and Brandon had already started their journey in growing their family – they had all their family and friends meeting one Sunday for their little one’s baptism. With the brilliant idea to ensure all could attend both baptism and wedding, they decided to have both magical moments on the same day. It was seamless and simply lovely. Perfectly gorgeous day!

I’m so thrilled to have been a part of all the vendors who helped bring this day together – and I hope you enjoy it, too!

The amount of cuteness overload is all over this blog today. For a mom of 2 boys – and very ‘boys boys’ sort of boys – as in, Batman, Superman, Spiderman, basically and sort of super heroman, primary colors and mud, this little session brought adorable to whole new level this week for me. This Paramus NJ family photography session simply melted my heart.

Little Ms Emmy loves the camera. That or she’s just the most friendly and social little person I’ve ever met. Full of smiles, giggles and a boundless energy, we had a fabulous day together. And it felt particularly special when Grandma graciously let me capture a few portraits of her and Emmy.. Such treasures I’m sure will be loved through the years!

Doning a onesie that boldly states: ‘I’m gonna do great things for this world – promise!’ – I absolutely believe Emmy will. All she has to do is keep this gorgeous smile and she’ll brighten anyones day 🙂

It’s been said that sometimes, I talk too much (thanks mom 😉 ). And when I try oh so very hard to cull down images, that trait seems to come through loud and clear photographically for me, as well. Particularly with this Tribeca NYC photography session!

But how could I not have a bit to say with this beautiful family?

And with these two little guys – in all their personality. With all their nuances, their many smiles, playing, so many moments of discovery and pensive wonder. I both adored this session and am thrilled with the images – and could easily photograph them all day. We put the perfect amount of consideration into this little session, thinking of the kiddo’s and when they’re the most ‘happy’, to when the light in this particular area would be ideal.
