Series IV of the FIND Montauk Workshop (read: Film Is Not Dead)
I’m posting this last blog with a little sadness – as this is the end of the FIND Montauk workshop posts. The workshop is resonating in me in ways in which I’d hoped for, but am nonetheless humbled and honored to actually live and absorb the experience. As it rained on our day of photographing families, it was elected to bring the session inside. I was so in love with this, as this is, apparently, not how Jon Canlas works. Overcoming immediate obstacles, pressing our film to low-light situations, containing (3!) families into a smallish space (for 3 families and a group of photogs, that is!) was a great exercise. Having the opportunity to watch Jon expertly overcome these obstacles was invaluable.
Peter and his crew handled the change in direction with ease and grace, and were such beautiful models! Absolute perfection. The kiddo’s were just as quick to snuggle and cuddle as they were to jump on the bed. I adored every moment we had with this beautiful family – and I hope you enjoy the images, too!
All images are shot on film, Hasselblad 501cm or Canon AE-1, processed and scanned by the lovely folks over at the FINDLab.
